ginger the cat

ginger the cat came for a little shop visit this past week. she was so adorable sitting in the front window i had to snap a few photos for you.

she's such an explorer, she loves visits to the shop. i think mainly cause she gets away from her paranoid and grouchy little sister, simone. ginger comes out of her shell at the shop and just wants to cuddle with everyone. kristena's black pants were covered in cat hair from ginger twisting in and out of her legs trying to get some cuddles in.

ginger is an indoor/outdoor cat, and as the weather begins to turn, she'll be making weekly visits to the shop, as long as we can find more successful ways to get her into her carrier.

meow meow! happy halloween!

RAT

we just got in our latest shipment of treats from the Regional Assembly of Text. lots of holiday cards (but i'm hiding those for a few more weeks) and these beautiful wall calendars:

there are tear away calendars on silk screened baltic birch (6" by 10"). we received them in these three patterns, and they all go for only $21. i think they'll be the kind of gift that you buy for your friend, and then end up buying one for yourself too. just saying.

display magazine

Display Magazine Issue 3 is now in the shop! It's $12 and features a lovely spread of noko clothes modeled by our home town sweety, Colleen Brown, and shot by Miss Emilia. This issue explores the intersections between music and design, with topics ranging from album cover artwork, to gig posters, to sound design, to rhythm analysis theory and more. Sweet.

pumpkins!

us noko girls had a pumpkin carving party last night. it felt good to stick our hands into the gut of a pumpkin. we struggled with our artistic sides, but were all pleased with the final results. after we cleaned up we ran across the street to the princess theatre to catch this:

not exactly the thriller it's made out to be, but a great film, none the less.

now onto planning our halloween costumes!

sally shawl

the sally shawl is definitely one of my favourite pieces from this season. just wanted to post it in the cream, so you can all drool over your keyboards.

pillow factory

down in the silk screening room, we've been cutting up a storm! there are piles and piles of scrap fabrics down in the basement, along with a lot of pillow forms, so . . . i thought we'd turn out some pillows for the holidays.

first you need to draft a pattern:

this is my mom's old school drafting paper:

then cut:

easy peasy. check out all of the glorious pillows coming your way in about a months time:
